![]() Of course, he's not a main player so I'm sure they can suck him into certain stories as much as they'd been doing so far. That being the case, I'm not sure how much we'll see of actor Jim O'Heir going forward. The solution, after a whole episode of Jerry farewells, was to bring Jerry back in for a few hours a week to fill his old role as the Parks buffoon. As in "Filo Pilo ruined the cake!" Tom then unsuccessfully tried to transfer his unwanted 'Jerry' role first to to Andy (who never gets embarrassed) and then to an intern (a handsome ex-jock who runs a homeless shelter). Tom, who's quickly given the nickname "Filo Pilo" after he messed up a simple sentence, Jerry-style. Meanwhile, with Jerry gone from the Parks Department, Ron wisely predicted that "When one 'Jerry' leaves, the office naturallly selects a new 'Jerry.'" And that 'Jerry' turned out to person with the potential for getting the most embarrassed by a social flub, Tom. The flashbacks to all the times Jerry mentioned that he was going to retire - words falling on deaf and uncaring ears - evoked both sadness and laughter. Of course, none of this is to say that Jerry isn't delusional he's over-joyed in front of both the people who ridicule him and love him, not really being able to tell when he's appreciated or being made fun of. People always complained the he didn't give 100% (or even 50%) at work, and now we know that it was by design. It was funny to hear Jerry talk about how he didn't care if he achieved his work or career goals because having a menial government job meant that he could cut out every day at five and spent time with his family. Hell, it even said so much that Leslie was ready to flat out refuse a home-cooked breakfast just because it was Jerry. "It doesn't make any sense," she laughed to herself as the Gergich girls acted grossed out by their parents affection. Especially when she watched Gayle declare Jerry to be the most handsome man she'd ever known. So while the parts of this episode involving Leslie dragging Jerry around to try and give him a special last day fell a bit flat, her visiting him at home and participating in the "Eggs, Bacon and.Toast!" Gergich breakfast song was priceless. ![]() If Ben hadn't already brought up Fringe at the end of the episode, I would have suggested an "alternate dimension" theory myself. His gorgeous wife provides plenty of "PDA" and his equally beautiful daughters worship him. His work-self, where he's oafish, inept and treated with contempt, and his home-self where he's beloved, dexterous and magnificent. "See you tomorrow, Jeremy." "Jerry's Retirement" was the second of two new Parks and Recreation episodes in one night (the review of the first ep, "Article Two," can be read here!) and once again we got to see the hilarious split realities of Jerry Gergich's existence.
